We believe it's all about knowing your target market, and that takes a lot of testing and figuring out what works best for you and what doesn't. 

If you have the time or money for it, that's great, but what if you don't? 

It's time you meet our new and improved OS/browser targeting feature. The new update gives you ‘Advanced’ settings for targeting specific devices, browsers, and OS. The advanced control options let you include and exclude specific versions of the browsers/OS for more flexible and efficient targeting.  

All options are also available on CSV and API.

  1. Device targeting - First things first, you’ll need to select your relevant device and the relevant OS/browser will be available to choose from.  For example: with a computer, IOS and Android won’t be available

   2. How to select targeted OS and browser versions - Start by checking the boxes to select the OS and browsers you will be targeting. With the update, each selection will show an icon allowing you to only target specific versions of the OS/browser.

TIP: For a written description of what a section means or does, simply hover over the tool tip icon with your courser and an explanation will appear

3. Targeting options-

Here you can either limit your targeting to one specific version or a range of versions by excluded the versions you don’t want.

By checking the ”and higher” box, you will target all versions newer than the one you have selected (including any future versions).

  • Specify your targeting - Clicking the specify icon will open a menu allowing you to select which versions of the OS/browser you wish to include or exclude from your targeting. 
  •  Targeting Ranges- In order to target specific ranges, you need to specify the version where you want the range to start and exclude the versions above the highest version you want to target. Excluded selections will automatically overrule included selections (see #7 for explanation). For example:

To target Chrome browser v.60-66:

Include - ‘Chrome 60↑’

Exclude - ‘Chrome 67↑’

5. Activate and deactivate your selection- Once you are happy with your selection, simply click “Add+” to save your settings. Now the setting will be displayed as a ‘rule tag’ next to the affected OS/Browser. To remove it again, simply click “Remove.”

6. Rule tags- Green rule tags indicate versions included in your targeting and Red rule tags indicate versions excluded from your targeting:

If ‘and higher’ is selected, it will show in the tag as an arrow icon:

7. Whitelisted vs. Blacklisted browser/OS versions-If you select versions of an OS to be both included (whitelisted) and excluded (blacklisted) from your targeting, and there is an overlap between the two, the blacklist is always stronger. The traffic from the overlapping versions will NOT be targeted.   

For example: In this case, all IOS versions above IOS 10 will be included, except IOS 11.

8. Empty group message

In case you accidentally ‘blacklist’ all OS/Browser versions from your selection, you will receive an error message which indicates that you need to correct the errors below. 

This removes the risk of saving your campaign with no traffic targeted. 

If your selection includes empty group(s), the page will display an error message saying: ‘Please correct the errors below’.

Scroll down to find red exclamation mark(s) next to the relevant browser/OS. If there is more than one empty subgroup, each will show an error message.
